Philippe Starck is a French product designer and probably the best known designer in the New Design style.

To many of his design projects Stark becomes very iconic, cleverly mixing styles. While Stark is not a chartered architect, he has done many projects for hotels, halls and houses in Europe, Asia and the U.S., earning a reputation as an industrial designer, inventor, philosopher, and celebrity. However, unlike most of today’s designers, Stark does not want to create expensive luxury items. He comes up with practical, simple and organic household items, and he himself helped launch them into mass production. Stark uses unusual combinations of materials – glass, stone, plastic and aluminium, plush fabric and chrome-plated metal.

In the designer’s arsenal, Stark’s often repeated sleek, elongated shape of the horns is embodied in the famous model, WW stool, resembling more of a sculpture than a stool. This bar stool has a footrest which looks like a “spike”. It is made of cast aluminium and finished with pale green enamel.
